EduPlay

As an educator with over 15 years of experience, I understand the frustration and concern parents/caregivers feel when their child is struggling at school. The current demands placed on teachers and school leaders is insurmountable and whilst you understand that as a parent/caregiver, it can be extremely worrying when your child just doesn't seem to fit in to the structures of schooling and/or is not able to learn in that environment.

This is where I can help!

Many factors affect how children function and learn within the school context. Your child may have a diagnosed impairment such as ASD, ADHD or Intellectual Disability. Otherwise your child may have experienced trauma, find it difficult to leave you when they are dropped off at school or experience anxiety at the thought of going to school.

EduPlay is an approach I use to assist children and families to prepare children for school and practice strategies to help them thrive in the school environment. In the play space, I use directive and non-directive play therapy to increase self-esteem, 'play out' attachment issues and increase the child's understanding of their body's reactions to stress and anxiety. I also offer support in cognitive learning with exceptional skills in the teaching of literacy and numeracy in playful ways.

I champion your child through liaison with their school teacher and school leadership team, ensuring they are aware of the issues your child is experiencing and working together to foster productive partnerships in their school life.
